Job Otter — Terms of Service

Effective date: January 15, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Job Otter, including the browser extension, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Ready Steady LLC ("we," "us," or "our").

By accessing or using Job Otter, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who We Are

Job Otter is operated by Ready Steady LLC, a U.S.-based company. References to "Job Otter," "Ready Steady," "we," or "our" refer to Ready Steady LLC and its products.

2. What Job Otter Is (and Is Not)

Job Otter is a decision-support tool for job seekers. It helps users evaluate whether a role is worth applying to and supports the creation of tailored application materials based on the job description, the user's resume, and the user's stated job search goals and preferences.

Job Otter supports judgment and decision-making by:

  • providing analysis, suggestions, and draft content,
  • helping users decide when to apply — or move on.

Job Otter does not:

  • automatically apply to jobs,
  • submit applications on a user's behalf,
  • guarantee interviews, offers, or employment outcomes.

You are solely responsible for your job search decisions and any content you submit to employers.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using Job Otter, you represent that you meet this requirement.

4. Beta and Service Availability

Job Otter may be offered as a beta or early-access service, even during public launch.

During beta or early stages:

  • features may change, break, or be removed,
  • data, assessments, or drafts may be modified, reset, or deleted,
  • service availability is not guaranteed.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

5. Your Account

Some features require an account. You are responsible for:

  • maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials,
  • all activity under your account,
  • ensuring information you provide (e.g., resume, goals) is accurate and current.

We are not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from your failure to secure your account.

6. Pricing, Plans, and Billing

Job Otter may offer free and paid versions of the Service. Certain features may require payment now or in the future.

If you choose a paid plan:

  • pricing, billing frequency, and included features will be disclosed at the time of purchase,
  • subscriptions may renew automatically unless canceled,
  • prices and plan features may change with notice.

You may cancel a paid subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period unless otherwise stated.

Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers. We do not store full payment card information.

Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable, and we do not guarantee results or outcomes from use of the Service.

7. Your Content

You retain ownership of content you submit to Job Otter, including resumes, job search goals, and edited application materials ("User Content").

By using the Service, you grant Ready Steady LLC a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to process your User Content solely to:

  • provide the Service,
  • generate assessments and drafts for you,
  • improve Job Otter using aggregated or anonymized data only.

We do not sell your personal content or claim ownership of it.

8. Use of AI and Generated Content

Job Otter uses machine learning and AI technologies to analyze information and generate suggestions, assessments, and draft content.

AI-generated content:

  • is based on patterns, not guarantees,
  • may contain errors, omissions, or subjective interpretations,
  • should be reviewed, edited, and verified by you before use.

You acknowledge that AI outputs may not always be accurate or complete, and different users may receive different results for similar inputs. You are responsible for deciding how (or whether) to use generated content.

9. No Professional Advice

Job Otter does not provide legal, career, employment, or professional advice. All information and content provided through the Service is for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional advice or your own judgment.

10. Saved Assessments and Data Retention

Job Otter may store job assessments, drafts, and related data so you can revisit them via the extension or web interface.

We do not guarantee:

  • long-term retention of assessments or drafts,
  • continued access to historical data, especially during beta.

You are encouraged to export or save any content you wish to retain.

11. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for unlawful purposes,
  • attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or misuse the Service,
  • use Job Otter for mass auto-application, spam, or misrepresentation,
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service's operation or security.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations.

12. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, and underlying technology, is owned by Ready Steady LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without prior permission.

13. Third-Party Websites and Services

Job Otter interacts with third-party job boards and websites (e.g., LinkedIn, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby). We are not responsible for:

  • third-party content or availability,
  • employer hiring decisions or processes,
  • changes to external sites that affect functionality.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ready Steady LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ready Steady LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

16. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any legal action arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts.

17. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if:

  • you violate these Terms,
  • the Service is discontinued,
  • continued use poses risk to the Service or others.

Sections relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law, and severability survive termination.

18. Assignment

We may assign or transfer these Terms, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent.

19. Force Majeure

We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, network outages, labor disputes, or failures of third-party services.

20. Severability and Waiver

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right.

21. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date will be updated when changes are posted. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
